Chevalière monogrammée en très bon état général. Quelques rayures d’usage en surface, sans incidence sur la lecture du monogramme ni sur la solidité de la bague — la patine naturelle d’un bijou porté et transmis.
Histoire & Style
La chevalière trouve son origine dans l’anneau sigillaire : à l’origine, son plateau gravé en creux servait à apposer un sceau dans la cire, faisant office de signature officielle à une époque où l’écrit restait l’apanage d’une minorité. Réservée aux familles nobles pour y faire figurer leurs armoiries, elle s’est ensuite démocratisée.
Le monogramme, qui entrelace ici les lettres G et L, s’inscrit dans cette évolution : à la gravure héraldique succède une gravure plus intime, centrée sur l’identité propre du porteur plutôt que sur une filiation. La chevalière reste aujourd’hui ce qu’elle a toujours été — un bijou qui signe, au sens propre comme au figuré, l’appartenance et l’identité de celui qui le porte.

Condition
Monogrammed signet ring in very good overall condition. Some surface scratches from normal wear, which do not affect the readability of the monogram or the ring’s solidity — the natural patina of a piece that has been worn and passed down.
History & Style
The signet ring originated from the seal ring: originally, its engraved top was used to stamp a seal in wax, serving as an official signature at a time when writing was reserved for a minority. Initially reserved for noble families to display their coat of arms, it later became more widely adopted.
The monogram, intertwining the letters G and L, reflects this evolution: heraldic engraving gave way to a more personal engraving, focused on the wearer’s own identity rather than lineage. The signet ring remains today what it has always been — a piece of jewelry that, both literally and figuratively, signifies the wearer’s belonging and identity.
